ESPN is reporting that a source said that Richard Childress Racing has discussed a deal with Budweiser to replace Shell/Pennzoil, which just announced it is leaving the team at the end of the season. With Kasey Kahne leaving Richard Petty Motorsports to join Hendrick Motorsports, Budweiser is said to be looking to move to another team. Recently, Budweiser officials were seen with Ty Norris of Michael Waltrip Racing.

Following the reports that Shell/Pennzoil would leave Richard Childress Racing and driver Kevin Harvick to join Penske Racing and driver Kurt Busch, SceneDaily is reporting that Shell will become the official oil of Penske, meaning Mobil 1 will leave the team. ExxonMobil issued a statement indicating it would partner with another team next year.

Richard Childress issued a statement reiterating that Kevin Harvick and Shell/Pennzoil are under contract with RCR until 2010. Yesterday, it was reported that Harvick wants out of his contract, so he can join Stewart Haas Racing with Shell/Pennzoil.

Jayski is reporting via Sports Illustrated that Kevin Harvick has asked to be let out of his contract with Richard Childress Racing. Harvick has one year left on his deal, but the Shell/Pennzoil sponsorship ends this season. Rumor has it that Harvick would like to take Shell/Pennzoil over to Stewart Haas Racing next season, in a third car.
