Busch Survives GWCs To Win Kobalt Tools 500

Kurt Busch pulled away from the rest of the field on the second attempt at a green-white-checkered finish, and drove his Dodge to victory in the Kobalt Tools 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Johnson, Kahne Win Photo-Finish Duels

Jimmie Johnson and Kasey Kahne nipped Kevin Harvick and Tony Stewart at the line respectively to emerge from the Gatorade Duels victorious. The combined margin of victory was .02 of a second. Johnson beat Harvick by a mere .005, and Kahne beat Stewart by .014.

Denny Hamlin won the Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, while Jimmy Johnson secured his fourth consecutive Sprint Cup championship. Hendrick Motorsports also swept the top three positions in the final standings.

Jamie McMurray survived the green-white-checker finish to the Amp Energy 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. Jimmie Johnson, who ran near the back all day, stayed out of trouble and came home sixth, expanding his points lead.

Jimmie Johnson passed teammate Jeff Gordon in the closing laps of the NASCAR Banking 500 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, and then drove away from Matt Kenseth and Kasey Kahne to win his sixth race of the season, and third in the Chase. Johnson also padded his points lead.

Jimmie Johnson dominated the Pepsi 500 at Auto Club Speedway, and pulled away from Hendrick Motorsports teammate Jeff Gordon for the victory, and assumed the points lead by 12 points over teammate Mark Martin.
