In the closing laps of the Daytona 500, NASCAR braced for a barrage of criticisms from fans and media memebers thanks to a two red flags and a two-hour delay to fix a pothole. In the end, however, Jamie McMurray and Dale Earnhardt Jr gave NASCAR a reason to breath a sigh of relief.

Jamie McMurray held off a hard-charging Dale Earnhardt Jr to win a thrilling Daytona 500 that was delayed nearly two hours thanks to a pothole that required patching twice. The race also made two attempts at a green-white-checker finish, due to the new rule.

Johnson, Kahne Win Photo-Finish Duels

Jimmie Johnson and Kasey Kahne nipped Kevin Harvick and Tony Stewart at the line respectively to emerge from the Gatorade Duels victorious. The combined margin of victory was .02 of a second. Johnson beat Harvick by a mere .005, and Kahne beat Stewart by .014.
