Darrell Waltrip just tweeted that Dale Earnhardt Jr will run a No. 3 car in the Subway Jalapeno 250 at Daytona in July. He wrote: “Here’s something that will make you go ‘hum’,Dale Jr driving the ’3′car in the nationwide race at Daytona in July,thats interesting.” No official announcement has been made, yet. So, this is just a rumor at this point.

It’ll be nice to see that #3 on the track again with an Earnhardt driving!
I agree. Someone tweeted that it was just a number. I disagree with that. Fans identify with the numbers of their favorite driver, especially when the driver has a strong connection to the number. And, given the tragic end to the number, seeing it on track is sure to stir up some memories, emotions. I know I’ll like seeing Earnhardt Jr honoring Sr that way.
