Kevin Harvick Wins Sam’s Town 300

Kevin Harvick overcame a series of slow pit stops to pass Denny Hamlin for the lead with 25 laps to go in the Sam’s Town 300 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. In the closing laps, he pulled away from Hamlin, winning the race by 1.361 seconds. The victory moved Harvick up to second all-time in the Nationwide Series with 35 victories.

Top 5: Harvick, Hamlin, Carl Edwards, Brad Keselowski, and Brian Vickers.

Trevor Bayne, Justin Allgaier, Paul Menard, Greg Biffle, and Steve Wallace finished sixth through 10th, respectively.

Notables: Mike Wallace (11th), Jason Leffler (12th), Brendan Gaughan (13th), Kyle Busch (16th), Danica Patrick (36th), and Kelly Bires (42nd).

Patrick just returned to the track after a green-flag pit stop. She was quickly running down Michael McDowell, who was not racing her for position. She went to the inside to pass when he turned down in front of her. The two made contact, sending Patrick into the outside wall, ending her day.
