Jayski is reporting via Sirius Satellite Radio that NASCAR took Hendrick Motorsports’s Nos. 5 and 48 to the R&D shop for inspection. The cars passed post-race inspection but were found to be extremely close on some of the tolerances at the R&D center. Rumor has it that the offset of the tail of both cars was close to NASCAR tolerances. The 5 was inside the tolerance, while the 48 was .006 of an inch over. No penalties were issued, leading some to suspect that NASCAR was charitable to the teams because they are first and second in the points standings.
