Vickers Re-Signs With RBR

vickers1Sources are reporting that Brian Vickers has signed a multi-year extension to remain with Red Bull Racing as driver of their No. 83 Toyota Camry. An announcement is expected later this week. Thus far, terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Vickers was in the last year of a three-year he signed after leaving Hendrick Motorsports in 2006. The team had the option of extending him one year, but instead chose to sign him to a longer-term deal.

In 2007, Vickers had to qualify the No. 83 on speed because the team was not in the top 35 in owner’s points. He ended up missing 13 races. In the 23 races he started, he had an average finish of 25th, with four top 10s. In 2008, he had an average finish of 20th, with three top 5s and six top 10s. Through 15 races in 2009, he has an average finish of 19th, with two top 5s and five top 10s.

With his consistent improvement and better runs this season, it’s no suprise that RBR was interested in re-signing Vickers to a longer term deal.
